Ages and Ages

When: Tue., Aug. 30 2016

Whoever it was in the Oval Office who came up with the idea of the Obamas and Bidens posting playlists on Spotify deserves a bonus. Granted, all of them appear to be Coldplay fans, but the POTUS does throw in some unexpected wild cards, including Esperanza Spalding and Low Cut Connie. No less prescient was his endorsement of Ages and Ages' "No Nostalgia," which not only provided a WTF moment for founding member Tim Perry, but also brought unexpected attention to a Portland choral-pop outfit whose songs, according to their bio, address subjects like "the debris of our collective failures." And what president wouldn't love that? 8 p.m., Ivywild School, 1604 S. Cascade Ave., $10/adv, $12/door, ivywildschool.com, 368-6100. — Bill Forman
