"A Woman's Place is in Hollywood: Pushing Back Against Gender Bias in the Film Industry - an Insider's View"

When: Mon., March 14, 7-9 p.m. 2016

Maybe you haven't heard of Lydia Dean Pilcher. She's been producing films since 1988. Ever seen The Talented Mr. Ripley or The Darjeeling Limited? Yeah, her work. Today, she's in Pueblo to talk movies. After two student workshops, she's holding a public discussion called "A Woman's Place Is in Hollywood: Pushing Back Against Gender Bias in the Film Industry — an Insider's View." It's anchored by a study she co-authored about the economic cost of gender bias. So treating women badly is not only wrong, but more expensive? What a concept. Swing by CSU-Pueblo's Occhiato University Center Ballroom and get the whole story there. 7-9 p.m., 2200 Bonforte Blvd., Pueblo, free, 719/549-2627, leticia.steffen@csupueblo.edu, csupueblo.edu. — Griffin Swartzell
