"A Conversation with Margaret Atwood"

When: Fri., Sept. 14, 7 p.m. 2012

When it comes to authors, the ultimate dual for social media queen would come down to Anne Rice and Margaret Atwood. Rice reigns on Facebook, regularly interacting with her followers, but Atwood rules the Twitterverse, posting on everything from publishing to politics. Pikes Peak Library District selected the 72-year-old's novel The Year of the Flood as its 2012 All Pikes Peak Reads title, and Atwood will be at CC's Shove Chapel (1010 N. Nevada Ave.) at 7 p.m. to talk the "importance of personal and environmental stewardship" in a bit more than 140 characters. VIP tickets to meet Atwood at 5 are $50 (tinyurl.com/appratwood), but the talk is free. — Kirsten Akens
