And so begins our second issue of the Best Of Colorado Springs 2019, our competition’s 26th anniversary. Nearly 18,000 participants (a record!) cast more than 290,000 votes this year. Last week, we announced the favorite restaurants, bars, mixologists and more in our Food, Drink and Nightlife issue (all available at, in case you missed it). Now, buckle up for the best in Neighborhood/Community, Shopping & Services, Health & Wellness, Cannabis, where we catch up with the kitties of the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, point you toward the awesome energy outlet that is Jack Quinn’s Running Club, profile a young poet stepping into the spotlight, and so much more.

Longtime Springs residents will see familiar faces, organizations and establishments, but we hope to introduce you to some newbies too — the wave-makers of this city you may not have heard of before. But for you visitors and newcomers: Consider this a guide to the region’s best services, cultural cornerstones and retail outlets, along with the human stories you can’t get that from a Yelp rating!

Congratulations to all our finalists — especially our Gold winners. And cheers to another wonderful year of successes!

The 2019 Best Of writers: Bill Forman, Eric Friedberg, Amy Gillentine Sweet, Bryan Grossman, Bridgett Harris, John Hazlehurst, Zach Hillstrom, Matthew Schniper, Alissa Smith and Griffin Swartzell
