47th annual Young People's Art Exhibition

When: April 3-May 9 2009

Adolescent artwork by masters like Picasso are always astonishingly humbling by way of technical virtuosity. The subject matter is equally refined and mature but doesn't always offer the innocent evidence of a learning curve. What could be more fascinating than artistic growth in action? Therein lies the academic argument for checking out the high school art show across the hall from Celebration Place in the Citadel mall (820 Citadel Drive East, 387-9015). It's part of the city-wide 47th annual Young People's Art Exhibition and the awards ceremony happens today from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibit will only be up through Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. And like the parents all say, the next Picasso could be on display. — Edie Adelstein
