3 de la Habana

When: Wed., Sept. 16, 7 p.m. 2009

It's a unique if not impressive picture of the American Dream: on-foot immigration from Mexico, political asylum, a record deal, sold-out shows in Miami and worldwide tours. But 3 de la Habana, couldn't have done it any other way. Since fleeing from Cuba, the trio has experienced widespread acclaim for its modern embrace of traditional Cuban styles. Combining Cuban percussion, creative lyrics and an energetic stage presence, this may be your best bet for a taste of what the Land of the Free now offers. Today's free show kicks off at 7 p.m. in CSU-Pueblo's Occhiato University Center Ballroom (2200 Bonforte Blvd, 719/549-2151) as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. — John Knight
