29th Anniversary POW/MIA Recognition Ride

When: Sat., Aug. 20 2016

"The buzz starts in Woodland Park, and like an opera, gets more intense as you go... Everyone needs to do this at least once and let their heart sing." That's one veteran's take of the POW/MIA Recognition Ride on the American Veterans Rally website. What has become the state's largest annual weekend gathering of motorcycles is in its 29th year of paying homage to our lost and captured heroes with a thunderous, patriotic, miles-long procession. From Woodland Park High School, thousands of participants roar through the mountains on their way to the Salute to American Veterans Rally in Cripple Creek. Unless you're a veteran, you probably haven't experienced this kind of camaraderie — the kind that makes the heart sing. 10:15 a.m.; bikes must be registered by 10 a.m., $8-$12, 151 N. Baldwin St., Woodland Park, theveteransrally.org. — Craig Lemley

Price: $8-$12
