1876 Ale Works now open, Bliss Barr closes for retail, and Chuy's moves to the Springs

After a few delays and a change in staffing, 1876 Ale Works has soft opened, effective Tuesday, Feb. 19. It’s still owned by Kevin McCarthy, a now-retired Army officer, but he’s brought on Nickie Freund as brewmaster for the spot.

Meanwhile, Manitou-based health food restaurant and kombucha spot Bliss Barr and Conscious Kitchen is closing down its storefront, effective March 1. Owner Ashlyn Zamora has elected to focus her energy on her wholesale kombucha business, Bliss Booch, which is and will continue to be available at locations in Manitou and Colorado Springs.

And finally, Austin, Texas-based Tex-Mex chain Chuy’s will open its first Colorado Springs location on March 26 in a 7,000-square-foot building, including a full bar.
