Whitewater parks, consisting of playholes or waves, are man-made obstructions in a river built to hold a floating object. Sounds counterintuitive as far as the river is concerned. To whitewater enthusiasts, however, it offers the benefits of the sport without the burdens of going downstream.

Whether kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), river surfing, rafting, or just swimming and spectating, there's plenty of reasons to visit a few of the state's whitewater parks.
