The city and The Broadmoor staged a ceremonial ribbon cutting on May 30 to open a segment of Chamberlain Trail that crosses the Strawberry Fields property acquired by the resort from the city in 2016. The new segment is a little more than a mile long and was funded by The Broadmoor, the city said in a release. It provides public access through the Strawberry Fields open space and more connectivity with other trail systems.

Access to the trailhead is located at the corner of Mesa Avenue and Evans Road, where a 20-space parking lot has been added. Chamberlain Trail is envisioned as a 26.5-mile path with a natural surface that spans the foothills from Blodgett Peak Open Space to Cheyenne Mountain State Park.
