Earlier this week, Colorado Springs' The Side Door held an intimate show for a small audience of lucky music devotees. Helmed by Ivywild booker Marc Benning and restaurateur Joseph Coleman, the performance space, which is little more than a small room with a smaller sound system, made its maiden voyage on Sept. 4 with a performance by Haunted Windchimes spinoff In/Planes and Detroit native Alexandria Maniak’s solo project Shortly. Benning has booked two more low-key shows for next month; Chapel Hills' Americana band Mipso, who played Ivywild last year (see Indy interview) will take the stage on Oct. 12, followed by “singer-songwriter, spellcaster, human” Karl Blau, of K Records fame, on Oct. 14.
