A new startup company launching in Colorado will make it easier to rent outdoor gear. Gearo, a startup online marketplace, will be launching in April to offer adventurers the chance to easily rent gear from local Colorado retailers.

It was a hassle that didn't need to be, said Barone.
Not only will Barone's startup give nature lovers the ability to easily rent their gear, but it will also give outdoor shops a revenue boost. A growing number of customers are choosing to purchase items online rather than in-store, and Gearo will potentially bridge that gap.

Although retail management systems are nothing new, Barone says the outdoor gear industry in Colorado is old-school. And while there's nothing wrong with old-school, the growing wave of digital marketing and online retail is a potential threat to local businesses that could fall behind.
The average American is exposed to 4,000 to 10,000 online ads daily, and over 500 million hours of video are watched on YouTube around the world every day.
"It's an old-school industry, so cold calling and emailing works alright, but walking in in-person and meeting those retailers face to face is really awesome," said Barone.
