In much the same way as Bill Nye’s hands-on experiments and wacky attitude helped a generation of kids understand scientific principles and enjoy scientific activities, local organization Cool Science
makes STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) accessible to youngsters in our community. You can often find them tabling at family festivals or touring schools, but the highlight of their year is the annual Cool Science Festival, Oct. 13-21. These nine days will be filled with special events throughout the city, including geology hikes, raptor talks and more. As always, they’ll kick off the week with a huge carnival at UCCS, which brings together local schools, organizations, museums and other institutions for presentations, lab tours, demonstrations, music and activities.
