  • City Clerk Sarah Johnson has launched the redistricting process.
A history teacher, electrician, political consultant and two retirees are among those who will help redraw the boundaries for the Colorado Springs City Council districts.

The City Charter requires redistricting every four years, and a new plan is due to be finalized in November.

City Council recently appointed an advisory committee to help City Clerk Sarah Johnson gather citizen input for reshaping the districts.

Those representatives are:

District 1 (northwest) - Mary Washington, procurement/buyer for government defense contractor
District 2 (north) - Paul Seeling, college United States history teacher
District 3 (southwest) - Sarah Brittain Jack, government relations/political and community issues
District 4 (southeast) - Mike Ham, journeyman electrician
District 5 (central) - Dave Munger, retired, head of the Council of Neighbors and Organizations nonprofit
District 6 (east-northeast) - Randall Kouba, retired from the field of higher education
At-Large - Courtney Stone, The Independence Center

The committee will hold at least one public meeting in each district and prepare a report that summarizes public input and makes a preliminary recommendation of election district boundaries.

The meetings, along with the name of the current Council member from that district:
