Gardening and drinking beer go hand-in-hand. In fact, often when I'm gardening, there's a beer nearby for sips between weed plucks or whatever I happen to be doing. Makes the time pass more pleasantly.
Thursday, May 19, from 6 to 9:30 p.m., you can celebrate that happy marriage by supporting our active local nonprofit, Pikes Peak Urban Gardens
, who'll be the beneficiary of PPUG at the PUB
, taking place at Triple S Brewing
Tickets are $25 and earn you a beer, kombucha or soda, plus a pulled pork dinner. Of that $25, 10 will go directly to PPUG. Plus someone will win the chance to create and make a PPUG-fundraising beer with brewer Steve Stowell. And once that hits taps, $1 from each pint will also go to PPUG.
Also, Grass It Up will perform to add some bluegrass to the mix and further stretch the value of that $25. Pork — brew — bluegrass — done.
Transparency note: One of these guys works with us at the Indy. We think he's an alright guy, generally speaking. I mean ... I suppose he's pretty cool if he's helping raise money for local food initiatives.
