I attended Thursday's release of the excellent Aztec Chocolatl Stout
at Fossil Craft Beer Company,
featuring a chocolate pairing by Radiantly Raw
(who provided the beer's cacao, while Stir
provided the espresso).
It being Valentine's Day weekend, Radiantly Raw is out in force with a list of events
, including pairings at 3 Hundred Days of Shine, Distillery 291, Swirl Wine Bar and Storybook Brewing. If you can make one of them, do.
Thursday's pairings were quite fun, including RR's Sweet Heat truffle mixing nicely with Fossil's fruit-forward Strawberry Camarasaurus Cream Ale. The house Kunda Porter paired gorgeously with RR's Pecan Turtle and Cappuccino truffle. RR's Raspberry Rose Cream may have been my favorite with the Stone Age Stout (the base for the special Aztec brew), though the Winter Spice truffle with cinnamon and cayenne was a close contender.
The pairings don't come cheap, at around $15 each at Fossil. But they're a treat, and remember that this is both quality craft beer and high-end raw chocolate that's organic, raw and made with pure cacao and coconut oil and other beneficial ingredients. You pay for the good stuff. It's V-Day weekend, that's what you're supposed to do, yeah?
Lining up a few pints with a lovely set of chocolates to test flavor combos.
A really up close look at the delicious Aztec Chocolatl Stout, huge with chocolate and coffee aromas and flavors.
