The Marian House Soup Kitchen
needs turkeys, and now could be a great time. Many supermarkets have special deals for Thanksgiving.
In a notice to media, Marian House said you can drop your frozen turkeys off during the second annual Stuff the Bird Turkey Drive on Monday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Marian House, 14 W. Bijou St.
Or, drop them off anytime Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
If cash is an easier way for you to give, text "Turkey" to 50155 to make a cash donation, or go to www.ccharitiescc.org.
The Stuff the Bird event is a collaboration of Catholic Charities Marian House, Care and Share
and Springs Rescue Mission
. The goal is 1,500 turkeys, which will serve the Thanksgiving Day meal at the soup kitchen and also be distributed to families, food pantries and churches.
From a news release:
The event on Monday will feature a 6 foot inflatable turkey mounted to the top of the Catholic Charites truck, so community members can actually toss their bird into the belly of the truck and "Stuff the Bird" or they can just drive through the parking lot and drop off the bird and get a receipt. We will have dancing turkeys, music, and a live radio remote on site helping bring some excitement to the event.
