Triple S Brewing opens

Indy publisher Carrie Simison stopped by Tuesday's grand opening at Triple S Brewing, contributing the following photos and report:

The crowd was full of the usual suspects: the area’s beer nerds, minus the industry folk who pre-sampled at a special opening event this past Friday.

Triple S opened with four of their five beers on tap: a wheat, American pale ale, IPA and a porter. The missing brew was the American amber. In its place they were pouring Red Leg Brewing’s Howitzer amber. Six bucks got you a four-beer sampler and the pints were all $5. The friendly staff was being tested by the size of the crowd but still made time to come out to tables to see if we needed anything else.

Consensus of the night: the Porter is the go-to beer so far.

In following my favorite beer-drinking saying, “There’s a sandwich in every beer,” I opted not to try the food, but the menu is stocked with both vegan and gluten-free options. The small list is unique and I’ll go back to check out the Michelada shrimp starter, lamb sausage sandwich, coffee- and porter-braised pork sandwich, and the Sriracha chicken sausage sandwich served on naan.

If you’re adding this 19th brewery in Colorado Springs (27th in the greater Pikes Peak region, including Pueblo) to your visit list, they're open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, noon to  8 p.m.
