The Sand Creek police substation
(4125 Center Park Drive) is apparently no longer big enough to hold the Colorado Springs Police Department
's southeast sector patrol division.
So, on Monday, City Council will be briefed on a resolution to buy 8.69 acres at 0 Academy Park Loop, just a half mile away, for a new station. Another
1.88-acre parcel will come with the sale as a donation. Both are owned by 123 Cascade Associates, LLC.
The El Paso County Assessor values the big parcel at $264,975. It sold in 1995 for $475,000. Now the city is ready to pay $760,000.
While the money to purchase the land is included in this year's budget, construction costs for a new station will have to come from somewhere else.

t for the funding plan. When he gets back to us, we'll update. No word on how the city plans to use the existing 18,000-square-foot substation, now valued at nearly $2.4 million, once the new one is built.
