We might find out what special event will take the place of the Balloon Classic
tomorrow. That's when the Lodgers and Automobile Rental Tax Advisory Committee
will be going into executive session to discuss a possible replacement for the long-standing event.
On January 5, we asked the city what was up with the request for proposals for a replacement event and got an email back from procurement services manager Curt DeCapite
, who wrote, "We received 5 responses and we have made a recommendation of award
. I cannot release that information until I finalize with that organization."
Tomorrow's LART meeting begins at 3 p.m.
in the Pikes Peak Room, 2nd floor of City Hall
, 107 N. Nevada Ave.
The first item on the agenda:
1. In accord with City Charter article III, § 3-60(d) and its incorporated Colorado Open Meetings Act, C.R.S. § 24-6-402(4)(e), the LART Committee, in open session, is to determine whether it will hold a Closed Executive Session. The issues to be discussed involve determining positions relative to matters that may be subject to negotiations, developing strategy for negotiations, and instructing negotiators.
Sounds innocuous enough, but we understand this is when a proposal will be discussed. After which, we hope the city will tell all of us what we can look forward to next Labor Day
