County Clerk Wayne Williams
was among those reveling in Republican victory last night as midterm election results
rolled in, defeating Democrat Joe Neguse
in the race for Colorado Secretary of State
with 48.5 percent of the vote. Though he did not attend the GOP victory party at Stargazers Theater
last night, Williams' name rang throughout the crowd as updates came through the PA system. "Our local boy," the event announcer called him repeatedly.
In a race where the Indy
editorial board said voters couldn't go wrong, we ended up endorsing "our local boy" Williams
, trusting his experience in running local elections here in the Springs.
Williams, who attended the state GOP victory last night at the Denver Tech Center
, spread his gratitude across both sides of the aisle, saying he's "honored" that the statewide electorate trusts him to oversee state elections.
