Cascade still in turmoil

  • Jez Elliott

Remember Terry Malcom? That federal ex-con from Nebraska who allegedly ripped off a million bucks from two water districts?

He's still free.

We wrote a pretty long story about him in March, when discovery of his alleged embezzlement already was pushing a year.

The latest on the District Attorney's Office investigation comes via Cascade Metro District official P.J. Anderson, who tells us via e-mail:

The DA [Dan May] came to the District board meeting last month and said he was giving the case as much or more attention than anything ever in his office including the Ray Marshall case. However, he said it would probably be late summer before a decision is made.
(Ray Marshall is charged with multiple counts in connection with his handling of the city's 2009 deal to retain the U.S. Olympic Committee here by overhauling a downtown building and upgrade the Olympic Training Center.)

While the investigation drones on, residents of Cascade have been meeting periodically trying to understand what's going on. An informational meeting will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Marcroft Hall in Chipita Park.

Here's some background provided to residents by Cascade resident Chris Reimer:

The next Cascade Metro District meeting will be at 5 p.m. June 24 at the Cascade Fire Station.
