Each beer featured at Collaboration Festival will be created by at least one Colorado Brewers Guild member, with other participating breweries coming from near and far. The other breweries will be from both in and out of state and some collaborations involve more than five breweries. The out-of-state brewery involvement is an exciting first for Colorado Craft Beer Week.Hit the link above to see the current list of co-conspiring breweries — which is super long and exciting. Big boys like New Belgium and Odell teaming up, but also smaller cats like Black Fox and TRVE.
The collaboration beer is called Jimmy Camp. It is based on a WeiPi (or a WeissBierPils) highlighting some non-traditional and fruity hops and a little darker than a tradition WeiPi. This was truly a collaboration beer as we decided on the style together (as none of us were producing this style of beer) and then tweaked the recipe together. Pikes Peak, Phantom Canyon and Bristol got together to highlight the good things Southern Colorado Brewers are doing. We are the three largest brewers in Colorado Springs. Some day we would like to add more brewers to a collaboration brew, but since this is the first ever Southern Colorado Collaboration, we wanted to start small and simple. The exciting ingredients used in this beer are Herkules, El Dorado, Mosaic, and Mandarina Bavaria hops, Crystal Wheat malt, and Klosterbrauerei Ettal yeast. If you can't make it to the wider festival and at least want to try this local collaboration, check in with each respective brewery closer to the 22nd for an update on an exact release time.
