I learned just before press time this week that longtime Springs baker
Shawn Saunders has launched
The Sourdough Boulangerie, using
Orchard Ovens as its commissary.
Saunders says he'll be baking daily but for Sundays, with retail goods available inside Orchard Ovens, and he's seeking wholesale accounts as well.
Though he's been quiet for the past four years, Saunders formerly baked for and sold to the likes of
Adam's Mountain Café and
McCabe's, while also running a booth at the
Colorado Farm and Art Market for five years.

Indy for more on this venture, and attend an open house at Orchard Ovens this Friday, Saturday or Sunday from noon to 6 p.m., for free samples and pre-Valentine's Day gift-basket ordering.
