A taste of the art featured in last year's exhibit
If you've lived here for a while, you've probably seen them: the gigantic sunflowers along South Cascade Avenue or the impish, bronze Humpty Dumpty
sitting, yes on a wall, outside the Pikes Peak Center
. On permanent display, these sculptures were originally featured in Art on the Streets
Since its inception, this annual outdoor exhibit has showcased 192 works of art, including these and others that Downtown Partnership
has purchased for permanent display. Each year, this exhibition brings in an eclectic mix of artists to celebrate the power of featuring their art in public places. For the 16th year in a row, Art on the Streets will be embellishing downtown Colorado Springs with its yearlong outdoor sculpture gallery.
Beginning in June 2014 and running through May 2015, the exhibition will feature various artists from around the world. Visual artists are encouraged to apply online
by February 24, 2014 in order to be considered.
