In next week's Side Dish column, I will tell you much more about the upcoming Couture’s Bistro project next door to Paris Crepe Euro Café.

It's set to open around early November, tentatively with a French, Italian and broader Mediterranean menu. The Colorado Springs Business Journal offered a preview glimpse yesterday, the same day that owner Wahid Hafsaoui also gave me a brief tour.

Here are a couple pics I snapped:

In other food and drink news, there's quite a bit of exciting activity on the horizon, plus a bunch of cool events. In no particular order:

• I heard from Carlos Echeandia of Carlos' Bistro earlier today, who said he had just heard from Zagat that he had once again earned a score of 29, making him the top-ranked restaurant in Colorado for a second year running. So big congrats to him and his crew.

Curbside Cuisine will host a chili cookoff at 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18, where $10 (benefitting the Manitou Springs Emergency and Recover Fund) earns you 10 samples. More details here:  See related PDF _FINAL_chili-flyer-color_copy.pdf

Nosh will for a second year running host the Pikes Peak Community College Fran Folsom Culinary Arts Scholarship Fund Dinner. Seats are $90 per person or $150 per couple for the "harvest feast with wine pairings featuring the talents of Pikes Peak Community College Culinary Arts students." The event starts at 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 20.

• The March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction will be held at the Broadmoor on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $200 to sample widely as well as enjoy a local "Iron Chef" competition. More info here:   See related PDF flier.pdf

• The Children's Literacy Center will hold its 17th annual Vintner Dinner (this year featuring Ken Wright Cellars) on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the Garden of the Gods Club. Here's a little more on that:  See related PDF Vintner_Dinner_2013_.pdf

• Lastly for now, Old Colorado City is continuing its Wine Bar Tour on Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m., as of Oct. 17. Tickets are $48 plus tax/tip to sample wine and snacks at six eateries and drink houses. More here:  See related PDF Around_the_World_everyThursday_2013.pdf
