If you want to vote in Colorado Springs' April 2 election, act now. Today is the last day you can do that.
For information on how to register, go here.
The election has two ballot measures.
One asks permission to spend more Trails Open Space and Parks money on parks maintenance. As we've reported, the measure doesn't contain a "maintenance of effort" clause that would require the city to maintain its general fund spending on parks maintenance, rather than shift that burden to the TOPS tax.
The other asks permission to increase pay of Council members from $6,250 annually to $48,000, or half the mayor's pay. If approved, it would become effective in 2015.
Voters also will chose six Council members by district. Here's the lineup, following by endorsements as we know them today:
Don Knight: Former Mayor Lionel Rivera, Council President Scott Hente, Colorado Springs Utilities Employee Advocacy Group.
Tim Leigh: Housing and Building Association of Colorado Springs, Steve Schuck, Colorado Springs Police Protective Association (PPA).
