Lost everything in the Waldo Canyon Fire? Basement flooded from one of our recent rain storms?

Believe it or not, there is good news. The federal government has qualified our area for special low-interest loans and reimbursements due to the disasters. The loans are available for most classes of property owners, including homeowners. Homeowners can receive up to $200,000 in low interest loans for replacement or repair costs on their property. Homeowners are also eligible for up to $40,000 in cash to go toward replacing lost items.

SBA approves disaster loan assistance


The U.S. Small Business Administration today approved disaster loan assistance for agriculture, businesses, homeowners, and non-profit organizations affected by wildfires, flooding and mudslides this summer.

The disaster declaration makes SBA assistance available in the primary Colorado counties of El Paso and Larimer and the neighboring Colorado counties of Boulder, Crowley, Douglas, Elbert, Fremont, Grand, Jackson, Lincoln, Pueblo, Teller, and Eld; and the neighboring Wyoming counties of Albany and Laramie.

Low-interest disaster loans will be available immediately.

Beginning at 9 am on Wednesday, August 8, SBA representatives will be on hand at the following Disaster Loan Outreach Centers to issue loan applications, answer questions about the SBA's disaster loan program, explain the application process and help each individual complete their application. The centers will be open on the days and times indicated until further notice. No appointment is necessary.

Disaster loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters are also eligible for up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property.

The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will have finance experts on site starting Monday, August 13 to assist all applicants with free guidance and counseling for immediate and long term recovery plans. Call for an appointment!
