Some people are more appreciative than others of the brews flowing forth from the 145-year-old Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. Some like the lighter taste and cheap pitchers, others think you might as well drink Miller Lite. Whichever camp I fall into — "Uh ... I'll just have a Miller Lite" — I'm still happy to tell you the Leinie's Airstream-trailer's cross-country tour is hitting Colorado Springs on Monday, March 5.
"Fifth generation brewers, brothers Jake, John, and Dick Leinenkugel, will travel the U.S. to greet fans and talk beer," says a news release. "Teaming up with Master Cheesemakers from Wisconsin-based Sartori Cheese Company, Leinie’s will offer beer and cheese pairing insights. The leading craft brewer in the Upper Midwest, Leinenkugel’s will feature (where allowed) samples from its year-round, seasonal, and limited-release portfolio."
Mostly I find the beer at Tony's Downtown Bar, and that's just where they'll be, among other spots.
Here's the deal: From 6 to 9 a.m. there will be a pancake breakfast "with celebrity chefs" at Rocky Mountain Coors (4710 Northpark Drive). Next, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., comes the consumption of brats, beer and cheese at Fort Carson. And last, it's sampling time at Tony's from 5 to 7 p.m.
