It's no surprise that perennial Grammy favorite Kanye West (14 wins to date) topped the newly announced contenders for the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. With a little help from Jay-Z, the hip-hop pop star led the pack with an impressive seven nominations.
Still, it's not completely lonely at the top, as Adele, Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars are following close behind with six nominations each.
In anticipation of the Feb. 12 telecast, you can read the Indy's recent Adele interview here. (Actually, ever-prescient Indy writer Tom Lanham also interviewed her back in '09 on the eve of her first Grammy wins. You can read that one here.)
And for those who'd like to get ahead of the curve on the Next Big Backlash, check out our interview from earlier this month in which we goaded Pretty Lights producer Michal Menert into some pretty harsh criticism of emo-turned-dubstep act Skrillex, who managed to snag five nominations himself.
Always happy to help out.
