September in food

We're still in the heart of harvest season, proven to me last night when I was able to incorporate carrots, beets, basil, tomatoes, chives, arugula, kale and honey from our garden into my dinner with friends.

This month should be a busy one with culinary events, including Local Food Week, Sept. 17 through 25.

Here's just a handful of other food and drink haps that have hit my radar so far:

TAPAteria will hold its next Paella on the Patio party at 5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 11, with guest chef Pete Aiello from Aspenpointe featured. Seats are $29 plus tax/tip.

Motif will host a Fall Crescendo Wine Dinner at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14, with seats at $45 plus tax/tip.
Here's the menu:

Potato cup filled with whipped brie and a port reduction.
CASALFARNETO 'Fontevecchia' - Verdicchio
Seared jumbo scallops with edamame wasabi puree and red yuzu kosho vinaigrette.
CAMBRIA Bench Break Pinot Noir
Arugula salad with blue cheese crumbles, prosciutto, red Anjou pear, rosemary sourdough crouton and a honey mustard vinaigrette.
FARRIER Presshouse Meritage
NY Strip topped with a green peppercorn cream sauce and served with white truffle garlic mashed potatoes.
Milk chocolate raspberry tart.

Palisade will host the Colorado Mountain Winefest from Sept. 15 to 18; check their website for a full schedule of events.

Try six of these goodies from Delaware at the Blue Star.
  • Try six Dogfish Head beers from Delaware at the Blue Star.

The Blue Star will host a Dogfish Head beer dinner at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, with seats running $90 plus tax/tip. Here's a link to that menu:
