So, as usual, the granddaddy of them all, the Great American Beer Festival, is sold out. And you're ticketless — well, you and most of America, anyway.
Well, a solution is at hand, though it's a long shot. Montana's Great Northern Brewing Co., a featured sponsor of the festival, is offering to fly one fan and a friend to the GABF in Denver to act as the brewery's "official ambassador." Apparently, according to a release, once you're there, you'll work with the brewery to find "the festival's worthiest beer lover and present them with the ultimate beer trophy. (Trophy is currently in production — expect something epic.)"
Of course, a journey of 60 or so miles begins with a single click, and that click is on the brewery's Facebook page. You've got until Sept. 15 to work your magic, and win it all. The event runs from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1.
So, I wish it was local, I wish it was closer, and I wish we had the tickets just to give 'em to you, but there you have it.
In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled in the paper for a review of Ed Sealover's book Mountain Brew, and a listing in this space of offerings from the Colorado Springs breweries competing: Bristol Brewing Co. (and, through its entry, Black Fox Brewing Co.), Colorado Mountain Brewery, Trinity Brewing Co. and Rocky Mountain Brewery.
