According to this morning's announcement, the in-house AXS service promises a couple of major advantages over the oft-maligned-but-still-massive Ticketmaster.
For one thing, the actual price, including all those inexplicable surcharges, will be revealed to purchasers up front. So for anyone who's spent half an hour navigating a dozen screens' worth of data entry on Ticketmaster's site — only to discover that they're paying an additional 40 percent by the time they reach the end — that transparency will come as a welcome change.
In another nice PR move, AEG won't be charging fees to concert-goers for printing tickets at home, a "service" for which Ticketmaster continues to charge.
The test-marketing begins here when tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday for the following shows:
