À la Minute — Friday Food news

A quick heads up on some food ops today and a little beyond:

• The third YoYogurt location at 1798 W. Uintah St. is celebrating its grand opening until 11 tonight with a killer special: 99 cents for all the yogurt you can fit in your cup.

There will also be music, face-painting and more on site.

Yup — this is how they roll at YoYogurt. Tongues out and ready to serve.

• From 3:30 to 5:30 today, catch some light snacks at AspenPointe Café, in celebration of the graduation of the first batch of students to move through the company's food services training program.

• Take part in the Crawl for a Cure tonight in benefit of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The pub crawl begins at Jack Quinn's tonight at 6, continuing on to four other downtown bars, all of which are offering drink and app specials.

The suggested donation price for a ticket is $25 and participants are encouraged to wear purple and green costumes.

The Wine Store is hosting a garlic and wine tasting from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 20 as a fundraiser for Pikes Peak Urban Gardens.

PPUG's Larry Stebbins will present four PPUG-grown garlics with olive oil and bread paired with four wines from the shop. Ten percent of sales from the event will go directly to PPUG.

Plan to attend PPUG's inaugural Garlic Fest on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10 to 11:30 a.m., where you can sample garlic ice cream (no joke).

• On Sunday, Aug. 21, at 5 p.m., catch a military appreciation community dinner at Garden of the Gods' Gourmet, in partnership with The Home Front Cares and Crawford House.

Ten dollars of each $20 ticket goes to support those organizations; the dinner is buffet-style, with a diverse spread of offerings that includes gazpacho, Kalua pork, tortillas, meat and veggie dishes and desserts.
