UPDATE: Focus: Still a pariah in some circles

Focus on the Family has issued a response to the controversy, which you can read here.

In short, Jim Daly said he feels the organization is being picked on for its belief system. He stands by Focus' stance that marriage should be between one man and one woman.

Daly adds that Focus still hopes to tell its conservative Christian audience to support TOMS, as the company sends shoes to children in impoverished countries.

Focus on the Family may be trying to shed its rougher side (see our story here), but that doesn't mean everyone is ready to see the organization in a different light.

Recently, the owner of Toms, a charitable shoe company, was blasted by gay-rights media advocates for speaking at a Focus on the Family event. Toms owner Blake Mycoskie was quick to issue an apology, saying he never would have spoke at the event had he known Focus' history.
