New farmers market, fundraiser, and special dinners

Welcome to this week's food news wrap-up. Here we go:

• A new farmers market just launched at Mother Nature's Sun, a recently opened hydroponic grow store and nursery located downtown at 325 E. Pikes Peak Ave. (634-4769). The market, featuring only two growers, will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesdays. Check out next week's Side Dish column for info on those growers, the store owners and more.

Faerie Tales Bakehouse and Catering, which just recently launched lunch and dinner hours in addition to its catering services (more on that in next week's Side Dish too), will host a fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m., tomorrow, Saturday, July 9 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Here are the details from the evite:

Join us for a night of a sampling from our summer menus! All proceeds will benefit Team Williamson and their fundraising efforts for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
$35 per person, $15 for kids 12 and under and for the kids 5 and under are free. Price includes all buffet items, coffee, teas, and lemonade. House Sangria and keg beer available for $1 donation and full bar drinks available for purchase.
The menu will be full of our specialty items (Colorado Buffalo Burgers, Southwest Sushi, Flank Steak Lollipops, Raspberry Chipotle Kebobs and more!), plus a "Bake Sale" so you can take those whole pies, cakes or cupcakes by the dozen to go!
Ticket price also includes an entry for one of our great door prizes donated by several local businesses!

• Another option from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey is celebrating the local art and artist selected for the 2011 Harvest Fest art poster and label competition. Catch an artist's reception with a variety of local works on display for sale in addition to live music, wine, cheese, fruit and more. Entry is free.
