The Space Foundation is moving this week into new digs in the Garden of the Gods corridor after spending years in its former location off of Highway 24 on the west side.
The move is made possible by a deal orchestrated by the Colorado Springs Regional Economic Development Corp. that provided a larger space for the foundation.
No local tax money was involved in the deal. The foundation, which hosts the annual Space Symposium at the Broadmoor each April, had threatened to leave town and reportedly was being wooed by others, such as Nebraska, which hosts a fall space conference.
Here's a press release about the move:
The Space Foundation is in transition to its new headquarters at 4425 Arrowswest Drive in Colorado Springs, moving from the building it has occupied for the past decade at 310 S. 14th Street. Moving will take place July 6-8, with the Colorado Springs-based team in place at the new facility on Monday morning, July 11. As communications equipment is relocated, there may be slower than usual response times for telephone calls and email queries; however, every effort will be made to respond quickly and efficiently.
The Space Foundation main Colorado Springs phone number (+011-719-576-8000), the website address (www.SpaceFoundation.org) and individual email addresses remain the same. Reporters may continue to contact media@SpaceFoundation.org during the move.
