With the June 15 deadline approaching to pay the second half of your property taxes, El Paso County Treasurer Bob Balink has decided to keep his office open Friday to give taxpayers an additional day to pay. County offices are usually closed on Fridays, a move to save money on utilities.

Under state law, taxpayers can pay in one lump sum or two installments, those deadlines being the last day of February and June 15.

Balink's office says in a press release:

Although county offices are generally closed on Fridays, the County Treasurer’s office will be open on Friday, June 10, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to accommodate those citizens who want to bring their payments into the office rather than place them in the mail.

According to County Treasurer Robert Balink “Since our office receives a large amount of payments by this final property tax deadline in mid-June we felt it would be in the best interests of El Paso County residents to have our office open on the Friday preceding the tax deadline, June 10. Citizens are reminded though that second half payments are due no later than June 15, 2011.”
