Amanda's Fonda under new ownership

Pre-weekend breaking news:

Amanda's Fonda , our perennial Best Of winner (literally 11 of the past 12 years, they've won for Best Mexican Food), has just been sold.

Mark Burr
, whose wife Amanda tragically passed away in late 2005, said it was time for him to sell, and that it's been difficult running the restaurant without her these past six years.

The buyer is Rick Holland, who owns Cripple Creek's Midnight Rose Hotel & Casino in addition to local Wendy's locations and more.

Here's a somewhat dated article on Holland from the Colorado Springs Business Journal, which at least tells you a little about the man.

We'll aim to have much more for you in Side Dish next week, including more from Burr on what will and won't change for the eatery. We're slated to speak with Holland early in the week.

Mark Burr did say that as of yet, there have been no staff changes at Amandas.
