UPDATE: Theatre ’d Art moves downtown

Last week, Star Bar announced that Theatre 'd Art had generously offered to let them use their new space as well.

So, tentatively, the entirety of the Star Bars' next season will take place downtown. In the event of a schedule conflict, Star Bar representatives have said they can still perform at Attitudes Center for the Performing and Visual Arts, where last month's The Smoking Gun Affair was staged.

Theatre 'd Art's artistic director Jonathan Margheim says his group has made scheduling arrangements to accommodate Star Bar, and advises to use the word "tentatively" because the lease is month-to-month and the current rent is "almost too good to be true."

He clarifies further that Theatre 'd Art is the sole company on the lease, but is willing to share the space "with any performing arts troupe (or any arts group in general) in the area."

His take:

We know how hard it is to find a venue and it's always been mine and Brian's dream not just to have our own space to perform our own shows, but a nice, affordable space where local artists of all disciplines could display or perform their work, a sort of centralized arts hub for all the "little guys" here in the pikes peak region.

The next performance in new space will be co-produced by Theatre 'd Art and will run April 22 to May 8.

It is called Hell Bent on the Tent or Phantom of the One Ring, and is being put on by local Vaudeville variety troupe the Vaudeville Tycoons.

According to this release on its website, Theatre 'd Art is moving from the Osborne Studio Theater on Cragwood Drive to its own theater space at 128 N. Nevada Ave.

From that same release:

We plan to use this new space as a sort of cultural “hub” that will house not only our theatre company, but offer room for other theatre productions, art galleries, concerts, burlesque shows, and any other events that are in need of a home.

Attend a fundraising gala (with a 2011-12 season preview) from 7 to 11 p.m., April 9, which is free, but requires registration on the site.

And in case you're having trouble picturing the new location, here's an image from Google maps. Past the heavy machinery, you'll see the theater space will be next to Fratelli:
