Kasahara makes it to New Mexorado

On March 5, the Harwood Museum of Art in Taos, N.M., will open New Mexorado: Artists Living and Working in the Albuquerque-Denver Corridor. Museum staff received almost 1,300 pieces from 370 artists to consider, before settling on 124 works by 80 artists.

One of the chosen artists is our city's very own Margaret Karahara, whose work probes Asian stereotypes often juxtaposed with American contexts. Her contribution to New Mexorado, "Chibichan Cowgirl" (below), is a good example.

For more on New Mexorado, as well as the concurrent Taos Shortz Film Fest, visit the Harwood's page here. But don't expect too much commentary on regional talent, as much of the verbiage on the page is devoted to the Taos community. (Yes ... we know Taos is awesome ...)
