Position Summary
The Executive Director is the “face of ASES.” The role of ED requires the vision to lead the organization through a period of rapid change and growth, working to catalyze a movement of champions in this industry, including members, technical divisions, chapters, community leaders, board members, donors, and solar advocates. To do so, the ED will exercise an innovative and inspirational spirit as well as a passion for solar and renewable energy. In addition, a strong performance management capability will be necessary to aggressively pursue the goals and directives of the organization. The executive director will also build a team of leaders within the staff by developing; inspiring and motivating his/her team, while creating a culture of excellence based on core values and commitments. The successful ED must demonstrate excellent team based management capability, empowering and enabling the staff to grow and achieve. The successful ED will possess effective and open communications skills.

The Executive Director will understand the renewable energy industry within a membership organization and have expertise in the following areas: leadership, fast growth organization experience, publishing, personnel and fiscal oversight, board relations and public policy relations.

OK — it doesn't say "asses" directly. But it kinda works when you sound it out. Nonetheless, it's not the image you want applicants picturing when contemplating the job. Well, at least not the brown-nosers, anyway ...
