Racketeering? Here? You betcha.
According to Springs Police, some kind of crime ring has been operating here for quite some time, and now authorities are lowering the boom.

The Colorado Springs Police Department will be hosting a press conference to announce the completion of a 6 month racketeering investigation involving 11 suspects. Eight people have been arrested and three people are being sought. Our Financial Crimes Unit partnered with the Secret Service and the US Postal Inspectors Office to investigate the case. Financial Crimes detectives and a representative from the Secret Service will be on hand to answer questions.
The police department will also be announcing that we will be using Twitter to notify residents when cars are stolen in Colorado Springs.
The conference will be at the CSPD Police Operations Center located at 705 S. Nevada Ave. in the Community Room at 10 am on 12-15-2010.
