Strong-mayor earns a strong win

UPDATE, WEDNESDAY, 8:37 A.M.: With the final, final mail ballots counted, the unofficial numbers are:

YES: 59.33 percent (73,168 votes)
NO: 40.67 percent (50,156 votes)

It was pretty clear early this evening that City Question 300, the strong-mayor initiative, was going to win, but now there's no question. Colorado Springs will debut a new form of government in 2011.

Supporters racked up 59.25 percent of the vote, or 66,503 votes, as compared to 45,739 for naysayers.

Strong mayor: Its on.
