8-bit armageddon

It probably wouldn't have gone over real well right after 9/11, but this video of 8-bit characters wreaking havoc on New York City is bound to please anyone who's ever owned a Commodore or is just fond of that legacy.

Creator Patrick Jean says his "Pixels" clip was viewed a million times within the first 24 hours of its YouTube release. But if, like me, you missed out until now, it's most likely worth two and a half minutes of your life.

The 2010 short has already won a number of prizes on the festival circuit. And according to Jean, "Hollywood studios have shown great interest in adapting it as a feature film, including Sony pictures, Warner, and Dreamworks."

Box office blockbusters have certainly been built upon less.
