To the friendly, anonymous gentleman who left me a message late yesterday to the effect of, "Why do you review Eighth Street restaurants so often, and not restaurants in other parts of town as much?":
Firstly: Thanks for reading and calling, and for calling yourself a fan of our Appetite section — you have warmed mine and Bryce's cockles.
Secondly: We indeed did review Rudy's Little Hideaway, recently relocated to Eighth Street, this past week. But I did a quick search through our archives, counting back 28 weeks, and found not a single other Eighth Street review. Our geographic mix included Woodland Park, Manitou Springs, Old Colorado City, downtown, Southgate, the North Academy Boulevard area, the Rockrimmon area and one Powers Boulevard review. In fact, I can't recall off the top of my head the last time we did a review on Eighth Street.
Thirdly: I assure you we do our best to hit all areas of town and to make sure all new eateries are represented. We of course don't control who decides to open and where they decide to do so — to that extent, we're in the hands of restaurateurs, just as you are.
Lastly: You say you live near Powers and would like to see more reviews in that area. We would, too. As this article from last spring attests, independent eateries on that side of town tend to have a tough run, and independents are largely the ones we review.
If you do hear of any new eateries anywhere in town, please tip us off at email@example.com.
