Dashboard Confessional frontman to headline 'Pikes Peak Rocks'

Last year's it was the Bacon Brothers and Cy Curnin from '80s hitmakers the Fixx. This year, it's Dashboard Confessional's photogenic frontman Chris Carrabba.

Hot off this year's opening slot on the Bon Jovi tour, the "emo hunk" (I stole that from a fan site) will be performing on July 31 at the top of Pikes Peak for a group of 200 cancer survivor. It's all part in a fundraiser for Love Hope Strength, the "world's leading rock and roll cancer foundation," which was founded by Mike Peters from the Alarm.

Also appearing on top of the rock will be Denver's always interesting John Common & Blinding Flashes of Light, who get down this way all too rarely.

Advance registration (required) is $79 and includes a ton of stuff, including meals, transportation from the Antlers Hilton to the trail, and a commemorative tee shirt.

You can get the rest of the info here.

Meanwhile, just to get you in the mood, here's an information clip on the event and its cause, plus a bonus music video for "LGM" from John Common's Why Birds Fly album.
