Music Monday II: Newport Folk Fest joins Twitter, Dylan goes Techno



OK, only one of these things is true, but a tweet from the Newport Folk Festival today links to a pretty amusing Onion story about how the man who electrified the 1965 festival is now moving on to electronica.

Actually, the Dylan-goes-techno premise isn't entirely farfetched, given the catcalls and walkouts that Lou Reed inspired earlier this month for playing a hits-free, avant garde set at the Montreal Jazz Festival.

Personally, I think the former Velvet Underground frontman improvising with saxman John Zorn and violinist Laurie Anderson is closer to "jazz" than a recitation of songs like "Sweet Jane" and "Satellite of Love."
