UPDATE: July 2, 11:30 a.m.
The six wagon wheels filched from the Hornbek Homestead are still missing. And there is still a $1,000 reward for any tips that lead to their recovery.
What I want to know is, who among us now possesses a wagon wheel coffee table and matching chandelier? Such décor is bad enough offense with properly attained wagon wheels.
On June 10, six wagon wheels were stolen from the Hornbek Homestead at Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. Two additional wheels were damaged in the process of removing the wheels from the — now also-damaged — wagons.
So, the Friends of the Florissant Fossil Beds are offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the recovery of the stolen wheels and arrest for those behind the theft.
If you have information, contact the fossil beds at 719/748-3253 ext. 131 or the Teller County Sheriff's Office at 719/687-9652.
Though I might add, the fossil beds may want to add a few more web cams around the premises for future safety.
