Friday: Get your free film fix

If you were lucky enough to get a seat at the first Colorado Short Circuit event in January, then you know you gotta get there early for Colorado Short Circuit #2. They filled the Lon Chaney Theatre (221 E. Kiowa St.) to capacity last time and had to turn people away.

This time at the free screening they'll feature eight short films from the U.K., Canada, Australia and the U.S., including two Colorado films. The latter are Uncle Jack, from Denver director Jamin Winans who is also responsible for the feature film Ink that screened locally last year, as well as Clay Pride, a clay-animated short from David Karlsberg and Jonathan Watts.

The event is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. with the first half-hour dedicated to socializing with local filmmakers and film fans. Then, the lights will go down at 7 for the evening's lineup - not necessarily in this order. (Some films may not be appropriate for children.)

Palace of Light, director Tim Piper, (USA)

And though it was supposed to be something of a surprise (thanks for letting us tell, Pete), local director Pete Schuermann and his film team will debut a teaser for their upcoming film Creep! (See our story on the project in this week's paper or here.)

Following the films, stay for a panel discussion featuring filmmakers and a special presentation by area director-producer Bob Garner. Garner has been in the business for decades, and enjoyed a 15-year working relationship with Walt Disney Productions. He started his television and film career as a production assistant and backstage page for The Carol Burnett Show, The Red Skelton Hour and others.

And, don't click this video, unless you can't attend. Or you procrastinated too long to get in. Or you're the type who always peeks into your presents early... It's the teaser. Enjoy.
